About the journal

Poecology is an online literary journal for contemporary literature about place, ecology, and the environment. We publish poetry, fiction, and nonfiction that meditates on human responses to ecological and place-based themes from various perspectives and aesthetics, pushing boundaries and experimenting whenever possible.

In an age of increasing disconnection from the physical world and the myriad communities of people, plants, animals and topographies, Poecology seeks to revitalize interconnectedness. Beginning with our inaugural issue in August of 2011, we publish emerging and established writers from around the world in a once-yearly online publication. Throughout the year, we hold literary events in the greater San Francisco Bay Area where the journal is based. In the near future, our website will offer resources such as essays, environmental news, events, and educational content. Stay tuned and watch us grow!
