Poecology is an online literary journal and resource for contemporary writing about place, ecology, and the environment. We publish poetry, fiction, and nonfiction that focuses on human responses to ecological and place-based themes from various perspectives and aesthetics. We also publish the Literary Locator (www.litlocator.org), the first and only online map of contemporary place-based writing.
Our mission is to inspire and enhance the understanding of place and the environment through literary arts.
Poecology is fiscally sponsored by Intersection for the Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which means your donation to Poecology is tax-deductible. Click here to donate. We depend on donations and volunteers to keep this project alive. Thank you!
Founded in 2011 by Kristi Moos and a small team of volunteers, Poecology publishes emerging and established writers from around the world in an annual online publication. In August 2013, we launched the Literary Locator featuring work from the first three issues of Poecology. Soon, the Literary Locator will be open to submissions of place-based writing published in other online journals and publications.
